“Great Retreat”

We stayed there just for a couple of nights but were blown away by the whole atmosphere this retreat offers. Situated in the middle of some tropical lush greens the safari tents offer anything you can imagine and are equipped with everything you are looking for - we absolutely loved the outdoor bath/shower at the back of the tent. Everything was clean and well maintained. Also staff was more than helpful and left no questions unanswered or problems unresolved. We really enjoyed our stay here and would definitely book again.

“Incredible experience”

Wow what an amazing experience! We thoroughly enjoyed our stay in the luxury tent, with its spacious deck and lovely outdoor bathroom. The setting was a gorgeous, well-maintained tropical oasis with lovely quiet pool and mountains in the background. We loved the delicious healthy breakfasts delivered to our tent each morning. Everything was just like the pictures. We also enjoyed using the free bikes to ride to Muri and town. Thank you so much for the fantastic service - I hope we can return soon!

“The Most Wonderful Place I Have Every Stayed At”

I have given Ikurangi a 5 star rating but really it deserves more. The fabulous grounds looking out towards the mountains. The really friendly people that take care of you - Emma, Dean and Luana. The fabulous healthy breakfast delivered to your door each morning. The tents were really my idea of glamping - I do a lot of camping and these tents were so special to me. I love to sleep with the windows open to get the breeze and I adore open bathrooms. Thank you to everyone at Ikurangi for taking care of me and looking after me in a special way on my birthday.

“Luxury glamping at its finest!”

Having never ‘glamped’ before, i was pleasantly surprised at how much it wasn’t like camping or staying in a tent like I was expecting! The room set up was very luxurious, spacious, with everything you need for a comfortable stay. The outdoor bathroom was so beautiful, and loved showering under the whistling coconut trees & stars. The daily breakfasts, omg! The attention to presentation on top of the taste were the best way to start our mornings. The free bikes were fun to zoom around the backroads, snorkels & reef shoes were useful! We had a great group yoga session (Yoga with Ash) on the Ikurangi grounds (which is very spacious). And last but certainly not least.. a MASSIVE shoutout to Emma & Dean who were perfect hosts and now great friends.. These guys make your stay extra special just by being the humble and kind people they are.. Overall, staying here at Ikurangi Eco Retreat made our holiday in Rarotonga so memorable! We will be back!!

If you want something different from Rarotonga then just a resort or house, then this is the place to go. It is an brilliant example of sustainable tourism and is the future for any visitor to really enjoy and also support protecting the environment. “Beautiful babymoon!”

We had a wonderful stay at the eco retreat, the tents and huts (we stayed in both) are equally fantastic. The set up of the tents is awesome - spacious, very comfortable with stylish attention to detail, they’re also well spaced out amongst the beautiful gardens for privacy.

It was really windy when we stayed but the tents are super sturdy so wasn’t a problem, but earplugs came in handy to muffle the sound of the wind all around. Showering outside was awesome!

The breakfasts are a work of art (all vegetarian from what we experienced).

Thank you to the managers for looking after us so well, being so helpful and accommodating. We had a lovely stay and it was great to meet you.

“Amazing setting, gorgeous gardens, luxurious tents and wonderful staff”

I stayed at Ikurangi for almost 2 weeks, It was my first holiday in a long time and I had high hopes for rest, relaxation, and rejuvenation. I was not disappointed. The eco-retreat is set in the most spectacular gardens with a wonderful salt water pool and a truly amazing view. The tents themselves are very comfortable and the outdoor bathroom a delight. The breakfasts were just lovely, so well presented and very tasty and nutritious. The island platters are fabulous, so much delicious food, all brought directly to the tent. The retreat is close to the island bus service and of course has the free bikes. I tried both and enjoyed them. However as I had limited mobility hiring a car was an important option for me. As the eco retreat is set back from the shore it sits amongst residential properties and so you get a feel of being part of the island in a quite special way. The island dogs and chickens provide quite a soundtrack, but one that is easy to get used to. The whole experience was wonderful and in large part this was because of the extraordinary care and attention that Dean, Emma and Susan give to making your stay as good as it can be. They are incredibly knowledgeable and helpful and are always on hand to help when needed. Would love to go back.

“Perfect place for a honeymoon”

We stayed in the Rua room which is one of the non tent rooms.

It was just magic, such a relaxing spot close to an orchard. We are both a bit greenie and look after the environment at home in New Zealand so was perfect that the Eco Retreat reflected this also.

Luana was extremely friendly and down to Earth and the grounds with free roaming chickens and a nice little pool was great. As there aren’t hoards of other guests like alternative resorts on Rarotonga it felt really relaxing and we slept in late and really eased into our honeymoon. The local knowledge of where to eat and what to see from Luana was also really helpful.

We loved this place and will recommend it to anyone who wants to stay in Raro and not be in a big commercial type resort. Tucked down a side street it was very quiet but still close to the Mooring Cafe, shops, swimming and the lagoon in Muri.

We used the bikes every day and borrowed the snorkeling gear too.

“Perfect little paradise”

Ikurangi Eco Retreat is an absolute dream! Rarotonga is synonymous with clear water and a beach holiday vibe, however, choosing to stay inland amongst the paw paw plantations was the best decision we could have made! Not only is the view incredible but the accommodation is divine! The Ariki tent was spacious yet cosy and bathing outdoors under the stars was a beautiful experience i’ll never forget! Knowing that our stay was eco conscious just made it even better. Breakfast every morning delivered to our deck was delicious and Luana was so helpful and accommodating for all our needs. The fact that we were able to get married on the grounds was the cherry on the cake! We highly recommend Ikurangi and will most definitely be returning!
